Toyota last year reached the first place in car sales after delivering 10.23m cars. Volkswagen comes 2nd at 10.14m car. GM sold 9.92m cars. Toyota performs good in north america as it occupies 28% of volume sales but in china it is way behind Volkswagen and GM by 2.4m cars.
